Lots of good vibes here. I have had the pleasure of working with Carissa Finney, DPT during my therapy visits. Carissa has great communication skills, and from day one I felt comfortable and safe in her care! I deeply appreciate her knowledge and guidance in treatments for my specific injuries on my road to recovery. "I absolutely LOVE the staff here and Ashley! I’ve had Ashley help me with work on my elbow after breaking it, she advised me it might be of a more serious concern after a few months of PT, in which it was. I had a loose fragment of my bone floating around in the joint, resulting in a surgery. I feel like I would have never known if Ashley didn’t tell me to get updated imaging. We are currently working on my knee complaints and she is so sweet, understanding, and hilarious. I always look forward to coming here! I would HIGHLY recommended this place to anyone looking for physical therapy."

"Dr. McKenzie is the best! I have gone elsewhere two other times for PT since an injury in 2019 and I have not felt so good since before that injury. She treats the entire body and all connected issues which is what I believe is the reason for this huge success. I had thought I’d just have to live with pain for the rest of my life. Highest recommendation. (Also the rest of the staff and other PTs are super friendly and helpful)"

"I've been doing PT here for 6 months now, five of those have been in the pool. All three of the pool physical therapists are amazing, and know exactly how far to push you while letting your body get stronger without further injuring yourself. If I'm in more pain than usual on a PT day, they know to not push my therapy as hard. I love going and highly recommend them."

"When I needed a physical therapist , I asked for recommendations from friends. Christine’s name surfaced several times.Her work with me was amazing right from the start.I measure the competency of medical people by their ability to listen to the patient, assess the situation, come up with a plan and share that plan with the patient. Christine stands at the top of that list in meeting that criteria.Her wealth of knowledge in the field and tailoring what could apply to me was outstanding. She encourages me to practice exercises at home and provided Medridge videos so I could practice at home to do them correctly. Every session is personal for me because of Christine. "I have to say If the management isn’t already aware, you have an outstanding physical therapist in your midst. Her name is Christine M Bauch MSPT. I never thought I would find another physical therapist that I felt comfortable with and could have complete trust in. I have it in the past, and it is rare that you find a person in this field that is not just about the mechanics and physical part but encompass is a little bit of psychology too, it’s an important part to be able to connect with a patient to get them to practice and put in place the exercises necessary to get better even if in the beginning those exercises are painful if also, if you aren’t progressing that they’re not afraid to tell you that there may be more going on with whatever issue you’re having, and suggest to see a specialist Everything Christine did for me and suggested was 100% on the money and corroborated by the specialist that she did all the right things up to this point so I thank you for being my physical therapist and I will highly recommend to anyone that ask that she is one of the best thank you and I will continue to come to Independence physical Therapy Route 32 Uncasville,CT Again thank you"

"Since July of this year I have received PT care for post hip surgery (May 29, 2023). This PT has been provided largely by Cynthia Holliday at IPT. My post recovery from this surgery has been difficult. There were weight restrictions ordered by my surgeon for a number of months following this surgery. This led to limited use of core mussels which made recovery to be quite the challenge. But with her care I am stronger and I get around much more easily each day. But I still suffer pain from my back and down through my right leg to my angle. I have been told that this is do to Lumbar Radiculopathy (thought to be causing sciatic nerve pain). I will be receiving spinal steroid injections ordered by my spinal orthopedist doctor within a couple of weeks. He hopes this will reduce the inflammation and pain I am experiencing while confirming that this is not a related or healing issue with my hip - post surgery. Yesterday I received a referral from him for further PT, focusing on this this sciatic pain. What better endorsement can I offer to attest to the good care I have received and hope to continue to receive then to seek this extended care from IPT. I will be bringing the referral to Cynthia at my next appointment with her on Thursday, November 30, 2023."

"Independence PT is the best around. I've treated with them for a variety of medical problems, and there hasn't been anything that they couldn't handle. In particular, I had a horrendous accident two years ago when a tree fell on me and crushed several vertebrae. I wouldn't be walking today if it weren't for Independence. "I was in need of aqua therapy to restore strength, mobility & relieve pain after months of weakness & atrophy from a prior medical injury. Pool PT sessions combined with intermittent land sessions & home exercises were instrumental in my healing journey. I began therapy struggling to walk, move and complete simple daily care tasks. The treatment I received was structured, progressive & responsive to my needs. My therapists were knowledgeable & compassionate in their instruction to ensure I was getting the most out of therapy through proper execution of exercises & adjusting for pain/difficulty as needed. They offered appropriate challenge and support, giving me agency in my progress & success. I have made tremendous progress working with IPT. My treatment gave me more strength and mobility than I ever thought I would regain. "I initially went for physical therapy for a rotator cuff issue, which they helped me recover from successfully. They also helped me get rid of my vertigo and reduced the headaches I was suffering from. "I’ve dealt with chronic back pain for over 15 years and the only thing that finally helped me was Independence PT. They didn’t make me feel like I was crazy like most doctors did in the past, since I’m so young. They took their time to see what could be causing the issues I was having and developed a plan- dry needling, Pilates, and a series of other treatments they did. I still have the pain from time to time but it’s not nearly as bad as it was and I now know how to manage it on my own without prescriptions. I can’t thank you all enough!"

"I've been to several physical therapy practices over the years for various reasons. While none of them were necessarily bad, there was always something I wish had been different: that they'd given me a little more difficult exercises, or perhaps been a little more empathetic and gone easier on a particularly difficult day, or that the office hours allowed more scheduling flexibility. When I injured my shoulder earlier this year, I spent a lot of time researching local practices. I wanted to be certain that not only could I make their office hours work with my crazy schedule, but that the therapists had plenty of knowledge and tools to utilize in helping me to rehabilitate what could be a potentially complex injury. I ultimately chose to book with Independence Physical Therapy, and it has been a great decision. I initially began my work with Jen. She was very nice and knowledgeable, but for whatever reason, I ended up being moved to work with Christine after a couple of appointments. We clicked immediately, and she has been exactly what I need in a physical therapist. She is not only an amazing wealth of knowledge, but knows how to apply that knowledge in the most effective and empathetic ways. If something we're doing isn't working, or I'm struggling with it; she finds a modification or an alternative. If I'm having a particularly rough day, she reminds me that PT doesn't need to be painful and horrible to be effective and we work on less strenuous activities and pain relief measures instead. When I wasn't making improvements that we'd expected and hoped to see and I voiced my concerns, she empathetically agreed instead of telling me a lie to try to make me feel better. Her acknowledgement of the situation helped me feel empowered to push for further testing to determine the exact cause of my pain (which ultimately required scheduling surgery). I have had the pleasure of working with other therapists on the team while Christine was unavailable, and they have all been wonderful as well. Everyone, front desk staff included, has been very helpful and kind. I am currently taking a bit of a sabbatical from PT, awaiting my upcoming surgery. While I am, of course, not looking forward to the recovery process; I feel a little more at ease knowing that Christine and the team at Independence will be there to help guide me through it."

"The staff here is amazing. From entering the facility, the receptionist, support staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The therapists are caring, and offer tips for everyday living and issues; not only that, they really know what they are doing. My only complaint is that it is hard to get in because of the demand for excellence which they provide. This area of the state is lacking for good services, Aquatic therapy which is perplexing because there is a Naval Base with a clinic, Electric Boat, a college... all paying customers with insurance. Thank you, IPT!"

"Went in with hip pain and lower back pain from military service. Wasn’t able to complete any hinge movements ie: sit-ups, V-ups, or leg raises. After around three months of continuous physical therapy, I notice minimal pain and discomfort while performing same exercises.The entire staff is knowledgeable, and they’re to help you reach your goals."

"Everyone (Office Staff, Therapists and Techs) is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating! A very comfortable environment with all-around next level care, my only regret is that I didn’t come to IPT sooner. There are no surprises, a folder with a Welcome Letter from the Owner, helpful information for staying healthy and avoiding accidents, and billing and copay/coinsurance information is provided at the first visit. My Therapist, Katie, was an invaluable source in my Postop Recovery. Katie was patient, yet encouraging and inspiring, she pushed me to push myself. Katie was sympathetic to my need to expedite completion of my care and made appointment times that fit my schedule and gave helpful tips for home exercises to allow me to attain my goals more quickly."

"I have been a patient at Independence Physical Therapy on and off for several years and for a variety of medical issues. Most recently, I broke my back in an accident with a tree that fell on me. The staff and the therapists at independence are the best. I started out in the pool for aquatherapy with Jeanne several years ago. I have had a variety of therapists since then, all of whom have been fabulous. I am now back to seeing Jeanne, and I love what she does. She doesn't let me be lazy and makes sure that I am working at getting better. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this amazing practice."

"I just completed 6 weeks of therapy at Independence. I could not be happier with the results of these sessions. Within the first few visits my therapist discovered the root cause of multiple secondary injuries, and selected a wide variety of challenging exercises to increase my leg strength and mobility. Reps and resistance were increased as I made progress. Katie was professional, very knowledgeable about her job, and a pleasant conversationalist. She was always prepared and ran each session with confidence and ease. I first entered the room with pain and limited mobility and I left six weeks later pain free and eager to resume my walking, hiking and Peloton cycling. I highly recommend this therapy practice. Thank you!"

She has been my therapist pretty much from the beginning of my nearly 6 month rehabilitation. She is the most professional and friendly person I have had the pleasure to work with. She has been my therapist pretty much from the beginning of my nearly 6 month rehabilitation. She is the most professional and friendly person I have had the pleasure to work with. She is highly skilled at her job and knows exactly what questions to ask and exactly how to answer the many questions that I have asked along the way. "Life does tend to throw us curve balls, right? As the state mandate to socially isolate was looming I broke a fibula and dislocated my ankle. Had surgery and the required non-weight bearing period, then landed at this Physical Therapy practice with Ashley. The "broken" know about the dark days of recovery and mine were amplified due to isolation and the global pandemic. Ashley and all the kind folks at the Uncasville location were bravely carrying on in-person visits and gave me the care and encouragement I needed to get moving again. My gratitude is boundless. "I am a PA-C in the local area. Not only was my wife a patient here, but I have multiple patients who use this PT location for their care. The staff is phenomenal...they truly go above and beyond. You can tell they enjoy what they're doing. The location is perfect and clean. It is owned by a retired member of the military, so that's also a nice perk to know you're supporting a vet. "I have made progress in Leaps and Bounds with the exercises and guidance through the therapists at Independence Physical Therapy. They are true to their name! They really want us to be independent and be able to maintain our independence through home exercise and strengthening the parts of our body that were weak or injured or whatever. Wonderful, caring ,skilled, knowledgeable people. Due to issues I've had that were very chronic and long-term, I have had many many practitioners. These people are tops! Thank God for them all."

"So far my condition is improving but I feel like I have more to do. I have two day land one day water therapy .The staff is very helpful and pitch in to assist each one if one of them is called away to deal with something else. I get the feeling that the staff really cares that you get and feel better. I am on a lot of medication for my back pain/problem and at the point if this therapy does works I like to find away to final get off or lessen the amount I am on. This will need to be done at some type of detox center since I've on some of them for 10 years. The Independence Physical Therapy Center is small enough to care and just large enough to have the variety of equipment to help with your therapy needs."

Thanks to Independence Physical Therapy I have my life back. The pain I was in was getting in the way of sleep, work and being able to do basic things. After my first visit I could already see some relief. It takes a lot of work to rehabilitate after an injury and they do it. They follow up with you in between visits, treat you like family when you are there and push/encourage you through the difficult parts. They are so professional and caring. I went in for take in interview and Tracy started with a few excercises. The second day in she began with stretching then exercises for adhesions in shoulder.
